Lower Redbrook - the village
The local amenities in Redbrook: the Bell Inn, the Boat, the Village Hall (originally the Workmans Institute), Redbrook School, the Village Shop and St. Saviours Church were built to accommodate the growing village of industrial workers in the 1800s. At one point Redbrook homed 12 public houses and several breweries to serve the residents.
The Millenium Green was a site for boat building in the early 18th century, and by the late 19th century became a timber yard. Today we use it for recreation and festivals. Redbrook has a long history of carnivals and celebrations.
